He also thanked Congress workers in Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry for their hard work and support.

“I reiterate that the Congress party will continue to protect and serve the people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry,” he added.

In a dramatic reshaping of Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, Vijay’s TVK emerged as the single largest party with 107 of the 234 seats, reducing the DMK and allies, including Congress, to just 74 seats.

The Congress alone could manage to win just 5 seats.

With TVK falling 11 seats short of the majority, Vijay will need allies to form the government and there have been indications the Congress may offer support to him.

Gandhi’s call to Vijay has fuelled speculation about a potential alliance between the Congress and TVK.

Earlier today, when TVK was leading in trends, Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekhar made a direct appeal to the Congress party, urging it to rethink its position and consider joining hands with TVK.

He questioned the party’s current condition and linked its decline to a lack of political power.

“Congress has a history and tradition. Such a Congress, why is it diminishing? Due to lack of power,” he said.

He further suggested that repeated dependence on alliances has weakened Congress over time. According to him, this pattern has contributed to its decline.

In a bold pitch, he added that Vijay and TVK are ready to offer political strength to the Congress if it chooses to align with them.
